I saw a BMW convertible parked outside my building the other day and it looked like the one I saw in a James Bond film. I’m wondering what model it is. Would it be a good choice to be my first BMW to drive in Texas?

Hello there, Wesley. Just a bit of info, the model that was on the Bond movie was a Z3 Roadster. It looked mighty fine in the movie, right? But right now, BMW has a newer model out. It is called the Z4 Roadster and it still carries the same amount of “oomph” and appeal that the Z3 had when it first came out. I’m certain that the Z4 will make heads turn when you drive it here in Texas.

Now, let’s talk more about the Z4 Roadster. You might be surprised that there is more than one kind of Z. There’s the Z4 Roadster 3.0i, the Z4 Roadster 3.0si and the Z4 M. Was that a lot of Zs? How do these three differ? The 3.0i and 3.0si, although both are powered by a 3.0 liter inline 6, differs mainly in horsepower output. The 3.0i revs up to 215 hp while the 3.0si gets it up to 255, a comfortable margin. The Z4 M is the modified Z4 with its 3.2 liter engine and modifications to its drivetrain and suspension. I also found the 28 mile per gallon rating (highway) also an interesting factoid about the Z4 3.0i and 3.0si. Overall, I think the Z4 ride, regardless of the trim, can be characterized by great stability and superior handling. BMW’s got this covered with Electronic Speed Sensitive Steering along with its proven suspension system. If you get tired of just being seen in one and actually take it for a real spin, I am sure you will get a really satisfying experience.
